Installation des VMWare tools

apt-get install autoconf gcc-4.3* make psmisc linux-headers-$(uname -r)

Les installation ci-dessus ne sont pas nécessaires avec Jessie

Récupération du package des VMWare tools : méthode 1

Dans vcenter demander l'installation des VMWare tools. Puis

mount /media/cdrom

Récupération du package des VMWare tools : méthode 2

Dans le répertoire /usr/lib/vmware/isoimages de chaque esxi, on trouve un fichier linux.iso.
C'est ce fichier qu'il faut récupérer et monter :

mount -o ro,loop linux.iso /media/cdrom

Installation

cp /media/cdrom/VMwareTools-9.0.5-1065307.tar.gz /usr/local/src
cd /usr/local/src/
tar zxvf VMwareTools-9.0.5-1065307.tar.gz
cd vmware-tools-distrib/
./vmware-install.pl -d

mpt-statusd: detected non-optimal RAID status

Dans le fichier /var/log/messages, d'une wheezy installée sur une infra vmware, je trouve les logs suivants :

Oct 28 08:07:17 transit mpt-statusd: detected non-optimal RAID status
Oct 28 08:17:17 transit mpt-statusd: detected non-optimal RAID status
Oct 28 08:27:17 transit mpt-statusd: detected non-optimal RAID status
Oct 28 08:37:17 transit mpt-statusd: detected non-optimal RAID status

Solution :
"The mpt-status package is used to query the status of LSI SCSI HBAs so unless your machine is using such HBA cards the mpt-status package should be safe to remove."

apt-get purge mpt-status
